The Blankie Project
Our most recent endeavor, “The Blankie Project,” was inspired by Kathrine and Elizabeth Kimball in their shared passion to serve those battling cancer. With Elizabeth’s patience in teaching others her craft, a team building afternoon of colleagues created handmade blankets for a children’s oncology ward at the Children’s Hospital of Tijuana. The volunteers that ultimately delivered the blankets and met the children received the greatest gift; we each left that day with a special child imprinted on our heart. Bearing a universal name for a comforting child’s blanket, the Blankie Project will serve both US and international communities such as the hospital in Mexico, a women’s shelter in Brussels and another in San Diego, Labor of Love’s hometown. With a global footprint in mind, Sofie Stas is leading The Blankie Project.
Labor of Love is interested in pairing volunteers interested in creating the blankets with those in need and contributing to the training, time, talent, and treasures. Please enquire to the Labor of Love for interest in this heartfelt hug of service.
